Yeah, the glaciers are pretty nice. Did you go up to Exit Glacier on the Kenai peninsula? You can walk right up to it. It's receeding, though. They have markers of where it used to be years ago. It makes you reconsider the fact that glaciers move slowly.

It was a long while before any of our Californian relatives consented to come in the winter. It's a completely different world. If you don't go too far North, it's not bad. The Aleutians are never cold, SE shouldn't be that bad, and SC is easy to get used to. Now, I'm not saying you'd like the 'Slope or Fairbanks, but the Southern parts really aren't that bad.
