I certainly hope you don't think this is what I meant in my post. While I'm not certain on the issue of baptism (Sam's post has given me a new perspective on the topic that I hadn't really thought much about), I do not believe that children are denied salvation because they can't understand it. I think they're pretty much automatically granted salvation until they reach a point in their lives where they can understand the significance of it and can make a conscious choice. I don't know if there's Biblical support for this, but I can't think of any other way it would happen, because two main personality traits of God are justice and mercy, and sentencing a three-year-old to Hell because he couldn't understand the concepts of grace and sin is neither just nor merciful.
