I don't get it. You're the second person (Thomas being the first) who has talked about the FOTR soundtrack as if it was entirely Enya. It isn't. Enya can only be heard on two of the eighteen tracks, and she only has a short snippet of the first of the two.

I have to admit, I wouldn't have minded if the soundtrack had *more* Enya than it did; I'm a big fan of her music. But I love it just as it is, and I think anyone who says it's "too Enya-ish" is doing a great disservice to composer Howard Shore. His score complemented the film perfectly, yet it's still enjoyable to listen to outside of the movie.
