The same is the case for my Scanner when my stepfather went ahead and installed Windows XP when I wasn't even prepared, though I don't see why a CD-rom drive of any kind wouldn't work, but that's just a thought. > > Mau(I'm still an apprentice to computer arts)Evig
I thought perhaps that was the problem (and so I was told by tech support the first time I called) but I've been to hp's web site looking to see if they had new drivers, and came up empty. They had a firmware updater download that I thought might be what I needed, but when I downloaded and ran it, I got a "wrong model" error message, whatever that means.
Anyway, even if that download had been what I needed, I don't think it would have helped with this problem, because even that software couldn't even tell that I had a DVD rom drive in the computer. It's as if the disc drive is no longer physically there, at least as far as Windows XP is concerned.
