I don't wear contacts because I'm terribly squeamish about eyes and SHOVING GIANT PIECES OF PLASTIC DIRECTLY INTO THEM, I like the fact that I can take my glasses off in under a second if I want to look at something up close, such as a computer or a book, and my glasses will never become lodged in my eye and cause a retinal infection or corneal hemorrhage or whatever that bad thing that always happens to contact-wearers' eyes is. Also, I like the way that glasses feel on my face. I think that if I ever had the option to get laser surgery I'd turn it down. I -like- wearing glasses. > > -Eric "Clark Kent" Sleator > Sun 28 Oct A.D. 2001
Ditto, ditto, ditto to everything (including the ailment; I'm nearsighted too). The very idea of sticking something IN MY EYE is not a good one. To the frustration of my would-be-makeover-er friends, this extends to getting stuff like mascara wands stuck close to my eyes. Plus, I like how I look WITH glasses a bit better than how I look without (which I can see if I lean clooose to the mirror). :) So I don't think I'd opt for contacts, even if I could wear them - which I can't, because of some eye condition thingie I have.
Although, I think if I could have laser eye surgery, I'd probably go for it... I'd love to be able to see when swimming and stuff, for one thing, and it'd be a lot easier to look in microscopes, and I wouldn't have to worry about losing my un-blurred sight. Sadly, my eyes are too messseeeed up for eye surgery as it is now. Oh well.
