I'm part of the Spectacle Club too. I am terribly nearsighted (my presciption is pretty thick now; when I'm older I'll probaby have Coke-bottle lenses) and I too dislike the idea of putting anything in my eye, even if it will help me see better.

I probably would not chooose to get Lasik surgery even if I could afford it. If I dislike the thought of putting a contact lens in my eye, I shudder at the thought of a laser burning, burning, burning away parts of it. Ick. Not for me.
