Moving

How much do I hate moving? Let me count the ways.
I hate having to somehow find time to buy a newspaper every day and read sixty bazillion "House for Rent" ads and phone about them and go and look at them, around working shift hours and weekends. I hate having to convince landlords that we're clean enough and employed enough and non-threatening enough to live in their crappy dirty cheapo crudbarns where nothing works anyway and they won't fix it when you ask. I hate looking around all the stuff I have to move, and realising that while it's too much to move in one easy carload, it's too little to add up to the nice home that I always thought I'd have by my age. I hate spending two weeks packing, and another two weeks throwing away half of everything I own to make it easier, and then more packing, and then having to unpack it all again at the other end. I hate changing phone numbers and addresses and having to do all the postal arrangements AGAIN, when there's probably still stuff being sent to the previous three addresses. I hate finding a house and moving in and looking around at it and knowing that, AGAIN, this isn't home, it's just a bunch of walls belonging to somebody else that we'll be leaving AGAIN in another year or two, and you know what I really, really, really hate most of all? Knowing that if you added up the rent I've paid in my life, I could probably buy ten freaking houses with it.
Brunnen-"and please amplify the hatred in this post by about a factor of eight, to compensate for how seldom I usually rant about anything to this extent"G
