I finally quit my office job, and I wanted to try something different.

So, I just got a job at the elementary school down the street. I'm now a special ed teacher's assistant. I'll be helping with mentally handicapped children.

I'm pretty nervous, since I don't know anything about children. The fact that the kids are handicapped makes me even more apprehensive. I don't want to make a mistake and hurt somebody.

Anyway, who here is familiar with mentally handicapped children? Any advice? My cousin is autistic (and he's actually named Raymond), but I haven't been around him much.
