> I think you'd have liked this weekend, Howard. . They had every class of car . .stock cars, formula cars, GT-1,2,and 3 class road cars (the CRX was GT-3 class) and more. . And considering the $20 admission got you in to all races, and let you wander through the pits and talk to the crews, it was pretty reasonable entertainment.

You haven't had fun 'till you're going 121mph downhill, hit a 90 degree hairpin turn, brake to 70mph in less than a second, almost get yanked out of your seat by the forces in the turn, then blast out at 90mph. >:) Sure, because of all that I now need new tires, but it was worth it ;)
I can't top that, so I'll throw in this little yarn:
In the summer of '96(make that 1996) I spent a week at Charlotte Motor Speedway at a Cushman Club National Meet. We saw Legends cars, Indy cars and even a few stock cars. The Legends were the only ones actually racing. But the highlight of the meet for me was riding my 1947 Cushman around the big oval 14 times. They let us go out for a few laps each day at noon and I was out there three different times. At 25 or 30 miles per hour, I stayed right down on the white line, because there were faster scooters out there. Now everytime I watch a race on that track, I can imagine that big red scooter chugging along the bottom of the track .
