What can I say, except it sounds like a great idea. It's the kind of job I can see being very enjoyable, and maybe even profitable (not knowing what tourist captains manage to earn in NZ). Just so long as you have a RinkyDink discount :)

On the subect of multiple interviews for a job: I can easily believe you had 3 interviews for a job along the lines you describe: My current job is not particularly senior, high paying or high profile, but I was put through 3 interviews totalling 12 hours (whew!). Actually, that was 3 interview sessions, one of which was an informal chat to people, one was a tech check to see if I was as talented as I claimed, and one was 3 separate interviews with 3 groups of people.

If it wasn't for the Jedi mind tricks, I'm not sure I would have got the job.
