I'd say you're on the right track. In fact, I really don't have to say this, because I think you know it yourself. But it's always good to hear from others that you're doing the right things when you're in doubt.

Personally, I'd *hate* working at a cash register or in a factory line. I'm not just good material for those kinds of jobs. Sure, it'd be new and somewhat interesting the first few days, but then I'd hit the Big Wall of Boredom headfirst.

And I don't think I'd do well in an corporate office job like the one you described, either. I need variety, creative challenges and freedom to do things the way I want.
