Nine things on my mind

Well, since I haven't posted in the forum since, ummmm, well, the middle of April. I figure since tons on my mind and stuff, now would be the time to make a huge forum post. Here we go....

1. Mini-Adventures With Marvin #1: The Oasis Concert

A couple weeks ago, I went to my first ever concert, and it happened to be one of my favorite groups ever: Oasis. My friend bought tickets well in advance and managed to get floor level, 27th row. Me, Shane (my friend), and his girlfriend Abhy were going to leave, stop halfway so Abby could return a belt, and then meet up with Shane's cousin and his friend. After returning the belt, talking some pictures (which we would later lose), and eating, we were on our way again. We got to his cousin's house about 4, and we hung around til 5:30 when we were supposed to leave for the concert. We ate, got directions to the XCel Center (the place where the concert was going to take place), and played some basketball. At 5:30 we all piled into Shane's car and drove to the XCel center. We got there about 6:15, about 45 minutes before the show. After we found our seats, we got some food (note to self: bring own food and drink to next concert) and bought some t-shirts. At 7 they had the opening act, the name of which I can't remember. They were ok, but the oen thing I remember is that Liv Tyler was there for the first band. She was in the sound area and watching the band. I think she's engaged to one of the members of the band. But anyways, they played for a half-hour and then they began setting up for Oasis. Around 8, Oasis finally took stage. The performance was AWESOME! They played a ton of cool songs like Wonderwall and Gas Panic (a personal favorite). They played for a little over an hour. After that, they had to set up for someone group called the 'Black Crows.' I didn't like them very much (well, that, and my ears were still ringing), so I sat with Shane and Abby in the lobby for a while. Near the end we went back in and listened to the last few songs. After that we went back to Shane's cousins and to sleep. And this is getting way long so I'll end it at that.

2. Graduation

Yep, someone finally decided I was smart enough to graduate. (Well, ok, I was top third of my class. Barely). So I went to honors banquet, got cords,Baccalaurate (or however you spell it), etc, etc. Then finally on Sunday it was time for the big graduation. The ceremony was pretty boring for the most part, except for the class song. Instead of picking some random song, one of our students wrote a song, which was really cool. After graduation and stuff, I had my party, but after a few hours of talking to people I don't really know, I was really tired. Too bad the party wasn't done. But in the end I got a lot of money and stuff ($1600, 5 shares of AOL stock, and a new computer eventually), so...yeah. For pictures, just go here: http://www.angelfire.com/mn2/marvin/pictures2.html

3. Tassels

A little side rant. Aren't these the most annoying things EVER? No matter what I did with them, they always managed to get in my way or just be annoying. And it's not like I can really move them anywhere since they have to STAY on the left side until you graduate, then they move to the right side, which is equally annoying.

4. Gowns

For some reason, we buy our gowns. Why? When are we ever going to wear our gowns again? "Honey, we're going to a party tonight." "Ok, I'll just slip on my graduation gown from 10 years ago." I mean, come on. I know mine is just going to hang in my closet until we pack it up in some box for me to discover in 20 years and show to my kids, but other than that, I see no reason for actually keeping it.

5. Arrogant Worms

I've recently discovered another funny and obscure group, the Arrogant Worms. They're a group similar to They Might Be Giants (anothe one of my favorite groups) and they have some pretty funny stuff. Some of my favorites at the moment are I Am Cow, Winnebago, and History is Made By Stupid People. And now, for no reason, my top ten favorite songs at the moment:

10. King Of Spain - Moxy Fruvous
9. Eyes On Me - Final Fantasy VIII
8. Giants - Five Iron Frenzy
7. Huck It - The Offspring
6. I Am Cow - Arrogant Worms
5. Gas Panic - Oasis
4. The Statue Got Me High - They Might Be Giants
3. Ana Ng - They Might Be Giants
2. Winnebago - Arrogant Worms
1. Flashbax - Oasis

Wow, wasn't that fun?

6. Mini-Adverntures With Marvin #2: WWF

On Monday, me, Shane, and Jeff (another friend), traveled down to the cities again for another adventure, this time to a World Wrestling Federation live event. I've been to one before, but that was a house show and not on tv. This one was. RAW is WAR broadcast live from the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN. We got down to Shane's cousins again, but we had a little bit harder time getting to the arena this time. We left at 4 but didn't get to the arena until 5:45, which was ok since the show didn't start until 6:30 anyways. After getting lost a few times and parking about 8 blocks away, we went in the arena. We found our seats and I went and got another shirt and a necklace. About 7 the first dark matches (not on tv) came on. After that and some other tapings, it was time for the event. We had made signs for a wrestler called Kane, and lo and behold he was in the first match. After the match, they showed our sign on TV. Yep, another couple seconds fame for me =) And the whole event was pretty good. I got to see my favorite wrestler (ok, so he's not a wrestler anymore) Mick Foley, which came as a total surprise to me, and Jesse Ventura was there again. But it was an awesome show, much better then the house show. And we'll just leave it at that. I'll get pictures up on my website some year.

7. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

I just bought the DVD on Tuesday (which just happened to be the day it came out: do I have great timing or what?) and I finally finished watching it tonight (Thursday: I was really tired on Tuesday night) and it's pretty good. I watched it in Chinese with English subtitles. I tried watching it in English but I just didnt' like it. But it's a really good movie and I think everyone should see it at least once.

8. Final Fantasy Movie

Ok, I've been anticipating this movie ever since I heard about it. And I must say it looks pretty impressive so far. I've seen a few previews and screens for it and it just looks so real. Ok, so maybe I'm just a really big Final Fantasy fan, but so what? It still looks really cool.

9. College

One last little rant. I'm currently less then three months away from going to college. This will be the first real time that I've been away from my family for an extended period of time (not counting the DC trip). I'll probably be one of those type that go home every weekend (kinda hard not to when it's a mere 30 miles from the college). But it's just the fact that it seems like just a short while ago I was just entering high school and meeting all these new people and now, here I am today, graduated from high school, one last summer before my life changes for the first time, and I don't know what to expect. But I guess I will adapt and just be thankful that I'm not halfway across the country (not saying that is bad. Actually, I'm kinda hoping that I could go to college in Japan or England in my junior year or something. That way, I could see the world and stuff).

Well, I think I finally ran out of stuff to talk about. Only took me about two hours to write this up (hey, you people know how hard it is to write and chat at the same time). Feel free to respond if you want
