I am so excited about my new computer that I stayed up until 3:00 AM last night playing with it, and fell asleep in church this evening as a result. I appear to be doing the same thing again tonight.

I got it on Saturday afternoon. I went against Ferrick's advice and purchased it at the local CompUSA store (sorry Ferrick, but Dell.com just didn't have what I really wanted). I decided to get it there because I can pay it off in six months, same as cash.

My new system has an AMD Athlon 1.2ghtz "Thunderbird" processor, 128 MB DDRAM (I plan to upgrade to at least 256 later, possibly 512 depending upon prices), an NVidia Vanta 16MB graphics card (I plan to upgrade that to a 64MB GeForce 2 on Kaz's recommendation ASAP), CD-RW and DVD ROM drives, 56K modem, and some sort of sound card that is way better than my old one.

I have a 19" monitor, but I didn't buy it from the same place...got it at Sam's Club, actually, for $150 less than I would have paid at CompUSA.

My software (Adobe Publishing Collection) should arrive via UPS Ground by Wednesday.

Alas, I still need a ZIP drive and a scanner, but I'll have to wait on those, unless someone wants to mail me some money.

Needless to say, I'm very excited. This is the first new computer I've purchased since 1995. It was way overdue. It should be interesting to see how long it will be before this one is as obsolete as my last PC currently is.
