I had forgotten all about "There's a Monster at the End of this Book" until I read this post. Wow, how could I forget that book! I've GOT to find a copy of that for my son...do you think it's still in print? If not, there's always eBay.

Interesting that you should mention that. I recently read (in Uncle John's Absolutely Absorbing Bathroom Reader, if you must know) about how Israel has two versions of Sesame Street, a Hebrew version (which must be what you saw) and an Arab version. They've tried doing crossovers, including an ep where a little Arab boy gets lost in the Hebrew Sesame Street, and they help him find his way home. Even Sesame Street is political.

Some other Sesamemories: remember the concert pianist muppet on Sesame Street? (He may have actually been on the Muppet Show, but I think he was from SS.) He would always mess up his song and bang his head on the piano keys and lament that he'd NEVER get it right.

My grandmother had a life-size jigsaw puzzle of Big Bird at her house, and I would put it together every time we visited. The pieces were huge, of course. There are pictures in our photo albums of me as a child lying next to the completed puzzle.
