This remembers me an awful English lesson, when I was at school, in which the teacher started telling such bad jokes.
The classroom was listening in silence, with no reactions at all, so the teacher thought that our English comprehension skills weren't good as expected and said (in Italian) "uhm, maybe you need something easier to understand, don't you?".
At which point, me and some classmates replied (in English!) "No, madam, we simply need something funnier 'cause you're boring us to death!".

At any rate, Eugene is still waiting for someone that spikes that punchline (Auld lang syne).
