You're both right. Yes, "Manhunter" came first, both as a book and as a film. However, Darien's rumor is something different. A film-only sequel to "The Silence of the Lambs" -- and a more closely related one with both Foster and Hopkins reprising their roles -- is a project that is currently being bandied about in Hollywood. I'm not sure who is writing the screenplay, but my understanding is that this would be an original story. If the two stars are signed, then in all probability the project will be greenlighted. Otherwise, it's unlikely it will ever see the light of day.
