The name of the book "Manhunter" was based on was _Red Dragon_ by Thomas Harris, a fine read. I haven't read _Silence of the Lambs_, but I do own both movies (on videotape, I'll be getting the SotL Criterion Collection DVD soon). From what I've heard, movie-wise SotL was better than Manhunter, but book-wise it was the other way around. I'll probably pick up the book version of SotL and compare for myself.
