Or come visit me. The university I go to has zillions upon zillions of squirrels. They become so accustomed to being fed by humans, they'll walk right up to you. If you're simply on your way to class, they don't run when you approach. I know most squirrels store up food for the winter, but I think these squirrels operate differently. They store up food for the summer, when a majority of the campus population is on vacation.

Speaking of animals on campus, we also have zillions of chickens. The rumor among the Facilities Management people (the ones who keep up the campus grounds) is that someone dumped a couple of chickens on campus 20 years ago. Sometimes people take them home as temporary pets, but the chickens continue to reproduce. A few months ago I saw a mother chicken with eight little baby chicks. It was the cutest thing ever, although I imagine baby squirrels might be cuter.

And a chipmunk note: They used to camp out in our wood pile when I was growing up, and my younger sister desperately wanted one as a pet.
