Actually, I don't think it was set-up on purpose. Mistakes happen, and I think this was one of them.

They do have a reason behind this. In one county, they made the font on the ballots bigger because there are so many retirees who live there. Officials thought it would be easier for them to read bigger font. However, this made is so that the boxes did not match up, and they have reason to believe that voters marked the Buchanan box because it was near the Gore box. Yes, it's their (meaning the election officials in that county) own fault, but should a whole county worth of voters pay for the consequences? I don't think so.

Most computer errors are due to the users, not the actual computers.
