Nova Scotia regional delicacies?

You are from (or, at least in) Nova Scotia?!!
Then maybe know about a sort of regional delicacy I've heard about, (from a relative who visited there)--it is some sort of potato filled pastery, umm, is it called a "pasty" (rhymes with "nasty")?? It is supposed to take something like three days to make the filling. But she associated it with the French Maritime area (making any sense here?) Ever heard of/eaten any of this? (Was NOT included in the Rinkworks "favorite way to eat a potato" poll, by the way).
