Think of forcing a pill down a reluctant barracuda's throat, and you'll get the picture!
Ah. Looks like somebody doesn't know how to give a cat a pill. Been there.
Disregarding humorous anecdotes, here is how. Spread a towel on the floor or bed with one of the long ends folded over several inches. Place the cat on the towel; with speed and practice you will be able to get its front paws under the fold. It won't work the first few hundred times you try it, believe me. Instantly wrap rest of towel tightly over cat to make a spitting, struggling cat-shaped towel with a head sticking out one end. Press firmly with thumb and forefinger on the hinges of the jaw and stick the pill straight down the throat.
I've got it down to a fine art now and don't even need the towel. I put the cat on top of the washing machine which is exactly the right height for the procedure. Then I clamp the cat between my elbow and my side with one arm, and do the open-mouth, shove-in-pill thing with the other.
