I feel sorry for the would-be athlete who bowled a 72 and then went out on the golf course and shot a 300.
I was driving by the golf course one day and saw two guys teeing up in a 20 mile-per-hour wind with the temperature at freezing and snow flurries. I remember thinking they must be crazy. Who could enjoy a game under such conditions?! Then I remebered that I was going fishing.
Somebody told me that David Pearson had a little sign on the dashboard of his stock car that said, "Go fast, turn left." (He won 103 races.)
Speaking of stock car drivers, someone asked Darrell Waltrip how he managed to drive safely through so many big wrecks. He said it was easy with your eyes closed.
Did you know that Babe Ruth started out as a pitcher? He wasn't very good at it, but fortunately he had other talents.
Why in the world did Babe Ruth's mother name him after a candy bar?
This one doesn't fit in with tidbits about jocks, but I'm going to tell it anyway. Motorscooter collectors (like me) are an odd lot. Most of them are married to very understanding women. For example: "John, we've lived in this house for fifteen years and I think it's time we furnished the dining room." "Whatever you say, dear. But what will we do with the Cushmans?" Ok, tell me your favorite jock story.
