I saw the Folger-Shakespeare library performance of Hamlet last night. Rather cut-up and moved around.... they rearranged the order, and they mixed together the Folio and Quarto editions. The most interesting thing they did, though, was the fact that there were 4 Hamlets. 3 of them were played by girls, but that wasn't important. There was one main Hamlet, and then the three others appeared when the ghost appeared to him. Each of the three represented a different facet of Hamlet's personality - the eye (Hamlet the Philosopher), the tongue (Hamlet the says-whatever-comes-into-his-head-er), and the sword )Hamlet the man of action). It was amzing, I loved it and I learned a lot about the play.
