In the play Fortinbras does show up, but weather it was to conquer or just a visit it is unclear. But he is there in the end, he tells his men to carry off Hamlet, for, "If he was put on he may have proved most royaly" or something close to that. The irony was that Hamlet acted very royal at the end, finaly doing what he was supposed to and avenger his father after debating with himself through the whole play.
