Think about it this way: What if we as a country put money into infrasturcture that included public transportation that people actually could use practically? Then we wouldn't have all of these mammoth gargantuan traffic problems that we need to alleviate by taking more land and more money to make bigger (and noisier)freeways.

The solution is simple: eliminate the laws and ordinances that state when you build a building, you must provide a certain number of parking spaces. New York City has a wonderful mass transit system because there's no place to park. This is why mass transit will never work in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, or any other large city.

Take away the parking places, and people will be forced to use mass transit.
