Homeward Bound II: Lost In San Francisco (1996)

Reviews and Comments

This sequel to the remake fails to recapture the spark, energy, and warmth that made the two prior films such a delight. This time, as the title suggests, the animals are lost in San Francisco and once again have to find their way home -- and survive encounters with dog gangs. Sadly, Don Ameche, Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey's most pivotal actor, had passed away before voices were recorded for this film, and his replacement (understandably) fails to meet his standard. But the real problem with the movie is that the city is neither as perilous nor as interesting as raw nature. Good for kids, but this time the adults may find themselves yawning.
