The stuff about your sister seems very hard. You seem to have an understanding of the situation being different from that of people who have been in closer physical proximity for longer. Also, one thing I have had to learn in a somewhat similar situation, is that sometimes people are dealing with so much of their own issues that it is hard to reach out to others in the way that those other people would appreciate.

It's a tough situation all around. Is there something specific preventing you from calling her? It would probably be nice if you could.
