Unfortunately, the map you have to consult in FQ1 is helpful only to a point. Mapping it out yourself helps a bit more.

In order to get to the enchanted forest, you have to be on the south side of the troll bridge. There are two directions you can go once you've crossed the bridge - one will take you to the tower, the other will take you to the forest. (Well, three, but north will take you back across the bridge, and I'd figure you wouldn't want to do that.)
