Bernard, my boss, is pretty much a hacker, although a different type.

Get 'em to hire me. I'm a crap programmer, but I learn fast, and I'm definitely the creative type. So tell your boss "hire this dude I met on the interweb. NOW." And if he doesn't go for it, punch him in the head until he does.
