Katrina, and other thoughts

Well, after reading all the rantings of someone, I decided to throw my hat in the ring here. What have the survivors of Katrina (and Rita, don't forget her) been up to? They have been moving on with life. Trying to pick up the pieces of what was. If they can. If not, they are starting from scratch.
My cousin Heather was in New Orleans when it hit. She and some coworkers lived in a hotel on a rather good part of town, surviving on the food and drink that was available. Which wasn't as bad as it sounds. They at least were able to get good shelter.
I'm not going to start pointing fingers on who screwed what up, but I will say that the information that this was going to happen was there, and they should have planned better. I don't have a link to support my data right now, and its too late for me to look it up. heh.
Anyways, Heather is back in Nawlins, working at a different hotel. I saw her at Christmas for the first time in about 11 years. I gave her a great big hug. We were brought up together, so she's kind of like a big sister to me. Sometime in the near future, I'm going down to see her and revisit that great city. And it will be great again.
Where I work we got about a dozen or so Katrina refugees in my department, more spread out through the company. Some are going to stay, start their lives here. Some can't wait to go home.
I don't know how I would react in this situation. My house burned down when I was in second grade. Lost everything. But then again, I was little, so I didn't have much. But I did learn something from that. Nothing is forever. Except for possibly this post. So, I'll stop here. Now.
