Sadly, I haven't read the book yet, I've only read The Sorcerer's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets. Don't worry, I'm asking for the others as Christmas presents.
Anyway, I thought it was excellent. The animation was by far the best out of all of them. The kids have grown up enough that their acting has gotten much better. Radcliffe can CRY! And the drama was terrific in this one. It's by far the best of the series, so far. I like this new director MUCH better than the last one, of course, that don't take much.
One thing that bothered me slightly was that there was no real introduction to the castle on this one. I mean, I guess it's not necessary, but I was so used to seeing them have to make it to school. In this one, one moment they were in a field with a huge skull in the sky and the next they were at the school... Oh well. If that's all I can pick out, then it must have been great! Not a single dull moment in the whole movie!
