In some ways, covered bridges are the most interesting type. The original idea was to keep rain and snow off the wooden deck to prevent rot. The few that are left have become tourist magnets. We see them as a picture waiting to be taken.
New England is probably the best area to look for covered bridges, but I have seen them in a number of southern states. I haven't looked, but there is likely to be a listing of covered bridges on the internet. Howard
