edible concrete

While passing through Hattieburg, Mississippi yesterday, we stopped at a "Steakout" for a steakburger. Across the street was a 50's style frozen custard stand. On the sign it said "frozen custard, sundaes, concretes and shakes."
OooooooK . . .
We finally had to ask the lady at the Steakout what a concrete was. She said it was just a frozen custard, frozen really hard. And she had to admit that she went across the street to ask. She didn't say if she had tried one.
Is that a Mississippi thing, or do they sell concretes in other places? After I found out that a shake was called a frapp in New England, I'll believe almost anything. Howard
