Murkon's Vengeance (Possible Spoilers)

Can anyone give me some pointers as to how to face King Brewelry on Level 5? I have beaten everyone else I can get to and can't get enough money for the troll to go anywhere else on the level. I skipped paying the troll on a previous level, and I'm afraid I might have missed gaining equipment access that I need. I just died and got set back quite a bit--I used the checkpoints a little too freely at first. Right now I can wear Sorceror's equipment. Should I be wearing Knight or Rogue equipment to beat him?
