More importantly, in the adaptive tests the early questions have a disproportionately large effect on your final score. So you're actually better off spending more than the average per-question amount of time on the early questions, and making absolutely sure you get them right.
For the adaptive GMAT, which is about 35 questions, you're better off getting the first 5 or so questions right than getting the last 30 right. So take your time and double- and triple-check those early answers.
