In the context of MV, "run" is more like taking one giant step backward. You're back where you came from, still facing the opponent you didn't want to fight.

This makes it easier to visualize the difference between MR and MV. In MR you run in a random direction, so you could find yourself playing "red rover" with the monsters. In MV you just back away, and there's nothing they can do to stop you except hit you while you're still within reach.
