People who drove by would swerve away from the turtles to avoid hitting them, and towards the snakes specifically TO hit them.
People do a lot of things that I don't understand. I don't really like snakes, but as long as they are no danger to me, I leave them alone. I don't want them in the house and poisonous snakes are not welcome in my yard, but a harmless snake in the garden can be a good thing. I live in a forested area and much of our yard is habitat for woodland creatures. We see 'possums, snakes, rabbits, squirels, chip monks, and turtles in our yard. We also have a wide variety of birds. One rabbit that I have seen a lot this spring has decided that I am no threat, so he ignores me unless I get within about 20 feet. Even then, he just moves a short distance. He seems to prefer clover over the stuff in the garden.
These creatures lived here long before we did.
Speaking of things I don't understand:
Why do some drivers work so hard at keeping you from changing lanes?
Why would anybody dump trash in a National Park?
What is wrong with the mind of people who smash mailboxes for fun?
Why have I never heard a child say, "I want to grow up to be an abortion doctor."
How can a person claim to be religious while growing rich on donations from poor people?
How can people hate others who are gay, black, or Jewish, if they don't even know anybody who is gay, black, or Jewish?
How can a politician spend $100,000 dollars to get elected to an office that pays almost nothing? Howard
