I have kind of mixed feelings about that -- on the one hand, I think it was an important step forward in American race relations, but I'm also somewhat disapointed that there is still enough racism in America that it needs to be remembered.

So....if there were no racism left in America, we should just forget about someone who had to brave it? Nah! There's no more taxation without representation anymore*, but we still remember Independence Day, don't we? :-) Besides, he was a darn good player, and I had dinner with his brother Mac once. Mac was an athelete in his own right, having won the silver medal behind Jesse Owens in the 1936 Olympics.

It's not really a baseball game unless you have a hot dog & some peanuts, and get beer spilled on you before the seventh inning stretch. You *did* have a hot dog, didn't you? For true enjoyment, take a carload of ten year old boys (and their baseball gloves) with you and sit in the foul-ball section on the first base side. Believe me, you'll be singing, "Take me out to the Ballgame" all the way out to the parking lot and beyond.
