Sheriff Allister is very protective of his rifles. He always keeps the key on him, so it's with him the whole time.

If I'd realized how confusing this would be, and for how many people, I wouldn't have put it in. Cutting is an event in which the horse does most of the work in separating a selected cow from the herd. Some horses do this better than others, so that's why you have a cutting horse in the game.

This was pretty well answered already. Basically, "you" (the player) were just a snotty little brat as a kid. ;-)

He probably wandered the mountains for a while before travelling up north to the Oregon territories. He's the kind of guy who doesn't have much use for cities and crowds of people, and Southern California was getting too populated for him. I think he trapped for a while; then settled down in a backwoods cabin and married a chief's daughter. He wore that pair of boots you bought him til the day he died.
