"The" Andy Capp scenario (there's only one): Andy comes home drunk, late at night, and exchanges some vicious comments with his angry wife which are intended to be taken as dead-pan humor.

How did I let that one slip? Oh yeah, it's because fortunately my paper dropped it a few years ago.

The funniest Garfield has ever gotten in the last two decades was actually in a Bloom County strip, where in the background of one panel you can see a kid reading a paperback titled "Garfield Vol. 18: Garfield Gets Old".

I agree, along with Peanuts. Garfield used to be funny (when it was more sarcastic) but now it's just lame. When it happened, I was very saddened by Bill Watterson's decision to stop doing C&H, but I think it's probably best that he ended on a high note...

Hagar the Horrible. I'm sure I could think of others if I was to go downstairs and grab the paper...

Bloom County... uh, that sounds very familiar. But I can't place it...
