It seems to me that a better alternative to freezing time would be to control it's speed just a little. That way you could live in normal time until you needed a little help. For example, if you were playing baseball, you could slow time to about 50% of normal speed for a couple of seconds and a pitched ball would just float across the plate.

Or if you were driving and saw an accident happening in front of you, you could slow time down long enough to figure out how to avoid becoming involved. It would be like having the ability to think and act faster than anybody else. Think what that might do for a boxer, a soldier, a pilot, or for that matter, a crook.

This concept came to me many years ago during a softball game as I was being struck out for the third time. Do you know how bad a softball player has to be to get struck out that often? I never was an athlete.
