The movie is a hit here, so it'll make it to you. I haven't seen it, so I can't defend it on any kind of educated ground except to say that my understanding is that it's not *supposed* to be scary in the modern sense. It is a throwback to classic horror, where horror meant the portrayal of a deep and overbearing sense of evil, not scares and shocks. Everyone I know who has seen it agrees that the movie isn't "scary" while you're watching it but rather that night when you lie in bed awake and try to go to sleep. Although I'll reserve my final judgment until after I've seen the movie, it certainly seems like it's an inspired idea and sounds like something fresh and original that, as is usual whenever something fresh and original comes along, fails to satiate those always complaining that there's nothing fresh and original in Hollywood anymore. So until I see it, it gets the benefit of my doubt.
