It never seemed impressive in Oregon, where that sort of thing happens all the time because it never stops raining. But in this part of Texas, I've only seen it once, and it was incredible. The rain was so heavy that I could only see a few yards, but the sun was beating down painfully.

Florida is like that. Back in 1950, I stood on our front porch and watched it rain like crazy on the other side of the highway. That was about 100 feet away. Our side of the road had sun popping in and out for about ten minutes before the rain moved across.
