I dunno... that's not very much groveling... well, I'll give you a freebie.

NOSB = National Oceanographic Science Bowl. It's where a bunch of marine science nerds get together and answer questions about... you got it... marine science.There's a whole bunch of different levels until they get to go to DC for State. My school's team should have gone, but the state competition added in a report section, which is in no way included in the national competition, so, although we got first in the Q&A, which is the *only* thing at Nationals, they placed third because of their report. Sigh. They outright beat the two teams above them in the competition. The one that went to Nationals, from Juneau, apparently didn't do very well. Just wondering if you knew about it. Nobody here does. Our team made a few hundred dollars for the science department, but none of the teachers knew.

Actually, it's a pretty big thing-- first place team members each got, like, a year [two years? Eep] tuition waiver to the University of Fairbanks, a nice big banner, T-shirts, hats, and lots of money.
