AIEE. My mom did something like this a couple of days ago--not quite a stupid, but with nearly the same result. She accidentally bought some sort of contact lens disinfectant (I think?) instead of the general purpose saline solution and proceeded to use it on her lenses. This is the stuff that you have to use a neutralizing solution with before it's safe to put in your eyes. The bottle says "DO NOT PUT DIRECTLY IN EYE," and she thought to herself, "I'm not going to put it in my eyes, I'm going to put it on the contact lenses!" Which she did. >.< The result was PAIN PAIN PAIN if the screams were any indication. She said it felt like putting bleach in her eye. (How she knows what that feels like, I don't know.) She flushed it out immediately and has been wearing her glasses, but her left eye has been red for two days. It's finally looking better. No vision loss, fortunately, but she's going to wait a while before putting her lenses in again!

Ah, the things people do!
