He played everything, pretty much, and was popular in most everything. Rock, blues, country, whatever.

The idea of being an icon in music is slowly passing, it seems. Will there be anyone like Ray Charles to come out of the more recent years of music who makes an impact when he dies? Frank Sinatra was one of those types. Any that I can think of have been playing for quite some time so they already fit that mold.

It is probably another sign of our disposable society.
