Heck no, that wasn't bad. Good self-referential verse is tricky. I liked it. It reminds me of a similar effort in iambic tetrameter:
it's hard to write this kind of verse metered so tight it's hard to write; it makes you bite your nails and curse: it's hard to write this kind of verse
