twice told tales

It occurs to me that we may have some people on this forum who haven't heard the story of the old guy with a Gameboy. So here it is again:

Several years ago, the Gameboy was all the rage with kids. My grandchildren, aged 7, 9 and 9 all had one. They played a variety of games on them and the song of Gameboy was always heard coming from the back seat, not to mention every room in the house, the front and the back yard.

So I would at times pick up one and try my luck. This was not my first experience with computer games, as I became quite good at playing Space Invaders on our prehistoric Atari. But on the Gameboy, only one game really appealed to me. That was Tetrus. It wasn't a game that held the attention of the kids for very long, but it was good mental exercise for the older crowd.

To make a long story a little less long, Christmas came around and the kids went together and bought me a Gameboy of my very own. It's not clear if they did this for me or to protect their own batteries, but that didn't matter. I still have it and I even carry it when I travel. As luck would have it, it uses 4 C-cells just like my digital camera, and one spare set can serve as backup for both divises.
