You know how when you go to a restaurant that has a different nationality sort of thing (for example, Chinese), the waiters and waitresses always seem to know exactly what language you speak? > > Crystal"Why not? Everyone else does this."109
I remember going into a Chinese restaurant in Hawaii and all the tables were set with chopsticks. I think my wife and I were the only caucasians in the place. The waitress brought our water and promptly took away the chopsticks and replaced them with knives and forks. They were very nice, the service was great, and the food was delicious, but I wanted to tell them that I could manage quite well with chopstick, thank you. But I didn't. Still I felt that I had been pre-judged. It would have been OK if they had brought the silverware and left the chop sticks. In these modern days, people who travel (I was 6000 miles from home.) eat all kinds of food and are aware of local customs.
I wonder why they didn't bring me a tea cup with a handle on it? Howard
