It's the same with me. I only found out about it when I was 26, too. I had always been clean-shaven up to then, but I grew my beard for a part in a play. After two weeks not shaving I was most surprised to find I had red whiskers round my chin.

There must be something in the genes that does it, but what, I don't know.
